Botox Q&A

Can Botox and Jeuveau help reduce wrinkles?

Yes. Botox and Jeuveau are cosmetic injectables made from purified botulinum toxin. They’re neuromodulators, meaning they block nerve signals from reaching specific muscles in your face, causing your skin to look smoother and less wrinkly.

Botox and Jeuveau can minimize several types of wrinkles, including:

  • Crow’s feet
  • Wrinkles between the eyes (glabellar lines)
  • Smoker lines (or lip wrinkles)
  • Laugh lines
  • Neck wrinkles

Although Botox is best known for its cosmetic benefits, Centeno Health may also use it to address various health problems, including:

  • Neck spasms
  • Other muscle spasms
  • Lazy eye
  • Sweating
  • Bladder problems, like urinary incontinence

Because Botox and Jeuveau are injectable treatments, they can only be administered in person. Centeno Health offers Botox and Jeuveau injections via home visits to people in the Miami area as part of its concierge medicine service.

Do Botox and Jeuveau present any risks?

Botox and Jeuveau are safe and typically well-tolerated, but as with any injectable, there are risks. Possible side effects of treatment include:

  • Watery or dry eyes
  • Pain, swelling, or bruising at the injection sites
  • Headache or flu-like symptoms
  • Droopy eyelids or crooked eyebrows
  • A crooked smile or drooling

Sometimes, Botox and Jeuveau spread to other parts of the body. To prevent this from happening, avoid rubbing and massaging your skin for at least 24 hours, and don’t lie down for several hours after treatment.

How do I prepare for Botox treatment?

To receive Botox or Jeuveau, you need to be 21 or older. Let your Centeno Health provider know if you’ve had Botox injections within the last four months.

You should also alert them to any underlying health problems you have and if you take medications, like blood thinners. Blood thinners increase your risk of bleeding and bruising, so your provider might ask you to stop taking them in the days leading up to your appointment.

What does Botox treatment involve?

Botox or Jeuveau treatment is quick and typically takes 15-30 minutes.

Before administering the injections, your provider cleans your skin and applies a topical anesthetic to ensure your comfort. The number and placement of injections you receive depends on several things, including the issue being treated, your health history, and your goals.

For example, if you’re getting Botox or Jeuveau to minimize wrinkles, your provider might recommend several injections in your forehead, between your eyebrows, and on either side of your eyes. If you’re experiencing migraine, your provider injects Botox into several specific muscle areas in your head and neck.

Prior to treatment, your Centeno Health provider explains what to expect and answers any questions you have. If you’re enrolled in the medical weight loss concierge program, your provider can even administer semaglutide (Ozempic®) injections during the same visit.
